so i went to the zoo today with my bio group (will, walter, and josephine) ... heh. jo and i met at bart, barted to embarcadero, then took the muni to the zoo ... met will there, and found out walter would be late ... so we walked to find somewhere to eat lunch ... waited at the bus stop and looked into every muni car that went by to see if walter was in it ... haha. ate lunch at this little asian cafe ... haha. lots of fun at lunch ... doing stupid stuff. haha. we all agreed that it was cool that we could hang out outside of class ... while it seemed that other groups in our lab section don't like each other all that much. haha. anyway, then we headed off to the zoo. i saw laurie there (she works there), and she gave me a complimentary pass into the zoo. WAHOO! haha. =] that was suhweeeeeeeet. =] anyhoo ... DUDE, the zoo is HUGE. haha ... but yeah, dude. i love hanging out with my group. =] we're so immature. haha ... we took lots of random pictures ... some highlights for me: swinging / duck with the mohawk / the penguin exhibit / trying on masks in the gift shop / seeing lions and tigers up close / picture on the birds / the evil goat / petting the donkey / will traumatizing little kids / walter's funny comments.

heh. also had a good time riding with jo ... we shared our testimonies with each other and how we share the gospel ... it was really cool. heh. we were also able to pray for will & walter ... we didn't have the opportunity to share with them, but hopefully we'll have more opportunities later in the year. heh. we think we're gonna try to go out for will & walter's bday ... they're both in december.

heh. but yeah. fun times, fun times. i'll try to post pics if will ever sends them out. =]

blah. going to the zoo tomorrow. not looking foward to it. =/

haha. hope it doesn't rainnnnn ...

dude, other bio1b sections don't have to do this extra lab. well, they can do it for extra credit. boooooo ... and they don't have to go to some actual institution ... they can just observe squirrels on campus or something ... ANNNND, they don't have to do a three page report with outside research sources supporting some random hypothesis. blahhhhh.

but oh well ... maybe it'll be fun. haha. at least i get to spend time with my bio group ...

quick post:

so yesterday at the s-team meeting ... we were talking about intimacy with God and how we need that in order to be fruitful in our ministries ... so we talked about mary and martha and about john 15 where Jesus says "i am the vine" ... well, i have a bio midterm on wednesday ... so when Jesus said "abide in me and i in you and you will bear much fruit ..." i could only think of whether or not that fruit would be a monocot or a dicot. =/

yeah sad, i know. there's so much to memorize for bio. it's seriously insane. i could really use your prayers. thanks.

okay, off to my cs170 midterm. wish me luck! haha. i kinda hope it's insanely hard ... just so the curve will be really low. =/ that would be nice ...

had lunch with jontsang today. he treated me. what an awesome bro ... today was the first time we really talked on a deeper level ... and it was SWEET. praise God.

tomorrow is midterm 1 of 3. need to do some more studying ...

very cool Bible study today at our s-team meeting ... about intimacy with God and guarding our quiet times ... very, very timely message.

mm ... just finished deenar ... yeah, it's late. heh. but i was hungry, and i hadn't eaten earlier 'cuz i was studying. one of the things i like most about apartment life is being able to cook. yeah, i don't always have a lot of time to cook so a lot of times i'll have cereal or poptarts for dinner ... but when i do have time ... man. heh. being on my own means cooking stuff i like to eat ... so i can cook spinach and zucchini every week. yam yam. my favorites. =] oooh, and i'm really starting to like tofu a lot too. sooooooo good. =] i think i could eat spinach and rice everyday for dinner. haha. i usually just boil it in chicken broth, add a LOT of pepper, and then a little bit of my secret ingredient - asian hot sauce! mmmmm. tasty. =]

i checked out eastbay baptist church today. hrm.

so i have a dilemma ... well. eastbay was good ... pastor john shim spoke on 1 Tim 5 about respecting our parents and on supporting the widows and the fatherless. pastor john was refreshing because he's very straightfoward ... errr ... he speaks the truth, and doesn't sugarcoat it. on the issue of this generation being so concerned with amassing fortunes and not taking care of our parents and the poor and widows, he said something like, "either drop these wrongful attitudes or drop the Christian name." a lot of his message was also pretty "condemning", you could say. so on the one hand it was refreshing because it was so biblical ... his preaching was very grounded in the Word, which i liked. much more so than cbc or first pres. but on the other hand, his style of preaching isn't really the kind that i like / am used to. but maybe that's just 'cuz i don't usually just hear preachers speak plainly ... but that's probably what i need more of ... not this "feel-good" type Christianity ... eastbay baptist is a professed "non-seeker friendly" church. they believe evangelism is individuals' responsibilities and not the church's (which i totally agree with), and so the messages are always challenging believers in their faith ...

so there were things about eastbay that i liked ... i know it would definitely be easier finding community at eastbay. i know that people that go to eastbay are really grounded in the Word and have a firm mission to evangelize ... and i know eastbay equips its members very well to evangelize ... and i know the people at eastbay know how to defend their faith ... and they have classes on apologetics too.

but on the other hand, i really like first pres ... i like the setup. i like pastor josh and pastor mark. i like the time (5:05 versus 9am. haha.) i like that first pres is a good mix of college students and families (eastbay is basically all college students at the 9am service, mainly all adults at the 11am service) ... i like that first pres is racially mixed. (eastbay seems to be almost all asian) i like that first pres is in walking distance. (i'd have to catch a ride or bus to eastbay)

also something i'm taking into account is that eastbay has a strong fellowship ... almost all the people that go to eastbay go to the fellowship too ... so the people are really tight. that's a good thing, but i worry that i'll be hard to break in and meet people. (not that i shouldn't try. it might be easy) but yeah, i kinda wanna check out eastbay's fellowship now ... heh. i've heard some interesting things ... like pastor john speaks every friday, so there's continuity ... also, after the message the fellowship breaks up into classes to do a Bible study, so you get to know the people in your class very well. soo ... hrm. stuff to consider.

Message Of The Cross

This is the message of the cross, that we can be free,
To live in the victory, and turn from our sin,
My precious Lord Jesus, with sinners you died,
For there you revealed your love and you laid down your life.

This is the message of the cross, that we can be free,
To lay all our burdens here, at the foot of the tree,
The cross was the shame of the world,
but the glory of God,
For Jesus you conquered sin and you gave us new life!

You set me free when I came to the cross,
Poured out your blood for I was broken and lost,
There I was healed and you covered my sin,
It's there you saved me, this is the message of the cross.

This is the message of the cross, that we can be free,
To hunger for heaven, to hunger for Thee,
"The cross is such foolishness to the perishing,
But to us who are being saved, it is the power of God!"

You set us free when we come to the cross,
You pour out your blood for we are broken and lost.
Here we are healed and you cover our sin,
It's here you save us,

You set me free when I come to the cross,
Pour out your blood for I am broken and lost
Here I am healed and you cover my sin,
It's here you save me, this is the message of the cross.

Let us rejoice at the foot of the cross,
We can be free, glory to God. (repeat)

Thank you Lord, thank you Lord,
You've set us free, glory to God. (repeat)
