professor strain:

"here's an example of how a physicst would go about proving that all odd numbers are primes. three's a prime. five's a prime. seven's a prime. nine's a pr... oh wait. nine is a mistake due to some experimental error. Here's how an engineer would prove that. three's a prime, five's a prime, seven's a prime, nine's a prime, eleven's a prime, thirteen's a prime, fifteen's a prime ... proof? done. and lastly, here's how a computer scientist would solve the proof. he'd write a computer program. after he runs it, it'd spit out

1 is a prime

How Berkeley are you?

ummm ... yeah.

so my math gsi is an uber nerd. i've only seen him wear four different t-shirts. three of them were from various academic meets. today's was "the physics olympiad". his fourth shirt isn't much cooler. it says "CZECH us out!"

hmmm.

michael yu and tiff cheung visited today. why do people always visit me during my short breaks? i was only with them for like half an hour because i only had a one hour break today. i made it from sun hong kong to kroeber in less than fifteen minutes! woohoo ... i'm amzaing.

in my legal studies class today we discussed legal fictions as means for legal change. my gsi gave us a funny example of a legal fiction. it may or may not be a true story. supposedly in canada there was this bum. this bum had only two possessions - a little pony and a down pillow which he sat on while he rode his pony. one day, the pony tripped and broke its two front legs. the bum had to then shoot the pony. immediately, the police arrested the bum for shooting the pony. in court, however, they released him because there was no law against a man shooting his pony. there was, however, a law prohibiting the shooting of little birds (some hunting law). in the law books, a little bird was defined as a two legged animal with down feathers. the state eventually appealed and convicted the bum, stating that the horse fell under the jurisdiction of the "little bird" rule because the horse had two legs and down feathers (the pillow).

ahahah. i thought that was hilarious. legal fictions ... haha ... good stuff.

down for the count

verses for the week (also from yesterday's small group meeting)

"To this end also we pray for you always, that our God will count you worthy of your calling, and fulfill every desire for goodness and the work of faith with power, so that the name of our Lord Jesus will be glorified IN YOU, and YOU IN HIM, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ." (II Thessalonians 1:11-12)

i gotta remember to pray in light of God's grace and in the anticipation of Christ's second coming. those two things should affect the way i pray and live. something i learned from small group yesterday that i'm trying to practice day to day.

large group was pretty cool today. we had an awesome time praising God. we heard a testimony from someone who went on a missions trip to kazikstan (sp?) ... oh yeah ... someone received the Lord today at AACF! praise God! a new brother or sister in Christ! =D

tons of work tonight. =ow

falalala.

i went grocery shopping today and this girl sitting on a bench outside of safeway asked if i had a cell phone she could use. apparantly today is her birthday and she lost her cell phone and needed to call for a ride back home. i felt so sorry for her. :[ inside safeway, michael and i were talking about how to boil eggs. since we both said we didn't know how to boil them, this lady came up and started talking with us. she was nice. she taught us how to boil eggs. =]

doopdoopdoop. so much reading to do.

doot doot doot.

wow ... 1AChord wants me to write them another song in the next few weeks ... apparently, Stan wants to start working on arranging some music ... i guess for another cd ... not sure, though.

church was pretty cool today. amelia and i signed up to bring refreshments for the connection service. hahaha. we'll see if we remember. =] lalalala. pastor steve and pastor john spoke on the topic of reaching out to muslims, but they took different approaches. pastor steve talked about the different interpretations of the five scripture passages concerning the great commission. pastor john explained why Jesus is the only way, truth, and life. i liked them both.

now i'm back at school. yippee skippy. i have my 'lil keyboard, and my gee*tar here with me ... i also have a mahjong set, if any of you wanna play ... =]

through it all
