went to sportmart today and looked for a mulder t-shirt and for a tennis racket ... or is it racquet? ... anyhoo ... no luck. they had tejada shirts and giambi shirts (outdated, obviously), but no mulders ... incidently, mulder pitched today and not very well ... booo. as for tennis rackets/racquets, i forgot how expesnive they were ... they ranged from $20 to $300 dollars ... ummm ... i dunno ... they all felt the same ... they all seemed too light for me. plus, i'd have to buy a case and strings separately ... hmmm ... the one i kinda liked was 99 bucks ... ummm ... maybe later.

and i'm singin' this song for you

HEE HEE. I'm SO HAPPY!

so yesterday was probably the most fun i've had all summer. :-D let me tell you about my day!

i woke up to make blueberry muffins ... everything went pretty smoothly except i didn't realize that i had two pans stuck together when i baked the first batch, and i baked the second batch with the oven off for ten minutes ... they turned out well, though ...

at one o'clock i drove to the union city bart station ... took me a while to figure out where i could park ... then i hopped on the bart train and went to berkeley. the train i was in had the heater on full blast ... UGH. i switched trains to an air-conditioned one. got off the bart train and saw michael at the bart station. we went to gaia to turn in our apartment form, then headed off to the vlsb library so michael could do stem cell research ... HAHAHA ... i mean research on stem cell research ... i've never seen so many boring books in my life! michael found a book ... then the real fun began!

we headed up to the hearst food court because i had a hankering for some ramen from the korean place ... bought some ramen ... yummy. then we headed off to mary lou's apartment.

mary lou's apartment is more like a house. well, it IS a house. she lives with betty, jenni, and pam on the top floor, and there's a group of four on the bottom floor. but when you first approach the house, there's two separate doors - one to the first floor, and one to the second floor ... pretty cool.

anyhoo ... mary lou has a nice place. it's on virginia ... same street as stephen's place, i think ... very spacious, not too far from campus. they have a WASHING MACHINE, TOO! they had very nice furniture ... so michael and i hung out there for a while. we had a good talk with mary lou and betty ... i beat michael at chinese checkers. i pulled out my muffins to give some to them, but they were all smooshed ... haha ... we played on jenni's guitar. jenni was so excited because she finally bought a pick ... just one ... a pink one.

at six we started walking towards evans to meet up with oleg ... we got there and JOEL AND KENNY were there, too! so the six of us (me, mike, mary lou, joel, kenny, and oleg) started walking to southside looking for a place to eat ... i got to talk to kenny for a while. apparently he's a really good cook and he goes to cook for mary lou and betty every once in a while. i hired him to cook for me, too.

we didn't know where we wanted to eat so we just kept walking ... after a while, we stopped because we had walked a long way and no one had a clue where we should eat ... finally we settled on TAKO sushi ... mmmm ... yummy stuff. i ordered the spicy california roll ... i liked it. then we realized that victor wanted to come eat with us, but we forgot to tell him where we were ... michael's fault.

after dinner, we headed off to joel and oleg's place ... kenny couldn't make it ... he had wushu ... i didn't get to talk to kenny too much ... we walked pretty far to a bus stop because joel and oleg live far away ... joel biked. a bus finally came, and we hopped on while joel chose to ride his bike ... it was about a fifteen minute bus ride from the bus station ... (that's how far away they live). joel beat us to their house.

BOY IS THEIR HOUSE NICE! ... as oleg says, their neighbor is Jesus ... (they live next to a church), but they have a three bedroom, two bathroom house with a HUGE KITCHEN, and LIVING/DINING room ... their furniture is AWESOME, TOO! they have a PIANO in their house! OOOOOhhhhh ... I met one of their other housemates, neal. neal with an 'a' because he's asian. their other housemate, neil with an 'i' because he's indian, wasn't there ... we toured their house ... they have a cool shed in their backyard ... that's where they lock their gardener ... ahaha ... their garden is a JUNGLE! trees/bushes/flowers/weeds everywhere! all-in-all a very nice house, though ... michael and i want to look for a house next year ...

then we played ten-down ... ten-down is an awesome game ... michael and joel did not win because they kept taking the evil queen ... i ended up WINNING THE GAME! hoot hoot! we probably played cards for like two hours ... after cards we just chilled for a while ... it was nice ... very relaxing, and very nice catching up with joel and oleg and talking to neal ... mrs. wong came to pick us up from their house at around 11:15 ... she drove me and victor to the north berkeley bart station ... i barted home and got home at around 12:30 ... fun stuff ... my berkeley buddies are the best! WOOHOO! ... can't wait until i move into my apartment and i can invite everyone over ... yup. that was my day ...

got a little hope here in my pocket

Yay! Caltopia!

I'll be in berkeley tomorrow. I'm gonna go turn in an apartment form and then eat dinner at oleg's place. Heh heh ... fun stuff ...

KIDS AND WATERCOLORS ARE THE WORST COMBINATION IN THE WORLD! aiyaiyai! what a mess today ... plus, the kids made paper airplanes in science class so that was a big headache, too. oh yeah, a little girl was crying because she couldn't blow her paints very well ... ack. what a tiring day. :-/

stuck inside a replay of someone else's dream

i've posted these lyrics before, but i think they deserve repeating

I have wrestled in the darkness

Of this lonely pilgrim land

Raising strong and mighty fortresses

That I alone command

But these castles I've constructed

By the strength of my own hand

Are just temporary kingdoms

On foundations made of sand

In the middle of the battle

I believe I've finally found

I'll never know the thrill of victory

'Til I am willing to lay down

All my weapons of defense

And earthly strategies of war

So I'm laying down my arms

And running helplessly to Yours

I surrender all

My silent hopes and dreams

Though the price to follow

Cost me everything

I surrender all

My human soul desires

If sacrifice requires

That all my kingdoms fall,

I surrender all

If the source of my ambition is the treasure I obtain

If I measure my successes on a scale of earthly gain

If the focus of my vision is the status I attain

My accomplishments are worthless and my efforts are in vain

So I lay aside these trophies to pursue a higher crown

And should You choose somehow to use the life I willingly lay down

I surrender all the triumph for it's only by Your grace

I relinquish all the glory, I surrender all the praise

I surrender all

My silent hopes and dreams

Though the price to follow

Cost me everything

I surrender all

My human soul desires

If sacrifice requires

That all my kingdoms fall,

I surrender all

Everything I am

All I've done and all I've known

Now belongs to You

The life I live is not my own

Just as Abraham laid Isaac

On the sacrificial fire

If all I have is all that You desire

I surrender all

I surrender all

My silent hopes and dreams

Though the price to follow

Cost me everything

I surrender all

My human soul desires

If sacrifice requires

That all my kingdoms fall,

That all my kingdoms fall,

Let all my kingdoms fall

I surrender all

(Clay Crosse's I Surrender All)

mmmm ... lovely. on an unrelated note, I leave you with this.

let all my kingdoms fall

yay ... church ... h2o c4 meeting ...

church - i really like first hour service. i like how they're getting lots of people involved. i took attendance today. 110 people. yup. they also had yummy jook today. mmmm ... cindy fong made it. i played piano for the 2nd hour service today. jimmy chew and ed fong played, too. it was kinda weird because they asked us to play something for ten minutes before service started. i like just playing off the top of my head, but ed couldn't keep up with the bass so i told him that i would just keep repeating the c-b-a-g bass chord progression ... it sounded pretty good, though ...

the c4 meeting was good, too. hopefully we'll have a group of us meeting together on campus starting september. does anyone want to join us? we're gonna just have Bible studies and focus on inviting seekers ... it should be pretty good. LAST WEEK OF SUMMERSCHOOL! i'll be in berkeley on wednesday if anyone wants to meet up with me. (and i know you do!)

Hobbes
You are Hobbes! Suave and sophisticated, you have
all the right answers, and know about
smooching. You enjoy a good pounce and hot
chocolate, and make a very good best friend.
