My sister gave me this brain-teaser. Don't believe it when it says that 98% of the world can't solve this problem. It's pretty easy, it just takes a little time. My sisters and I all got it.

Einstein`s Riddle:
Einstein wrote the following riddle. He said that 98% of the world could not solve it. But several NIEHS scientists were able to solve it, and they said its not all that hard if you pay attention and are very patient. Give it a try:

There are 5 houses in 5 different colors in a row. In each house lives a person with a different nationality. The 5 owners drink a certain type of beverage, smoke a certain brand of cigar, and keep a certain pet. No owners have the same pet, smoke the same brand of cigar, or drink the same beverage. Other facts:
1. The Brit lives in the red house.
2. The Swede keeps dogs as pets.
3. The Dane drinks tea.
4. The green house is on the immediate left of the white house.
5. The green house`s owner drinks coffee.
6. The owner who smokes Pall Mall rears birds.
7. The owner of the yellow house smokes Dunhill.
8. The owner living in the center house drinks milk.
9. The Norwegian lives in the first house.
10. The owner who smokes Blends lives next to the one who keeps cats.
11. The owner who keeps the horse lives next to the one who smokes Dunhill.
12. The owner who smokes Bluemasters drinks beer.
13. The German smokes Prince.
14. The Norwegian lives next to the blue house.
15. The owner who smokes Blends lives next to the one who drinks water.

The question is : WHO OWNS THE FISH?

I'll post the answers later ... maybe ... i dunno.

On love, Part II.

After having a night in which we tried to make the girls feel special and after hearing a message on love, I've decided to expound a little bit more on the topic.

What is true love? "Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends."

Who do we love? I'm sure if you polled the whole world, you'd basically come up with pretty much the same answers. My boyfriend. My girlfriend. My parents. My siblings. My best friend. Some would even say God.

Who does God love? "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son ..." God loves the world. God loves each and everyone of us. We love Him because He first loved us. We can love others only because He showed us love first.

Who is the most important person in our lives? I'm sure many of us Christians would profess that God is the most important person in our lives. Yet, does our love reflect this? Do we give God even half the amount of time we give to our boyfriend/girlfriend, to our family, or to our best friend? Do we spend even half the amount of time trying to get to know God better, as we spend trying to get to know our best friend? Do we even WANT to spend the same amount of time with God as with our special someone? In order to truly love others, we have to truly love God. God's love is the only true love.

This is love
This is how it's meant to be
I am loved
And this love has set me free
Oh this is love
This is heaven's mystery
Not that I would love you first
But that You have first loved me
Oh this is love.

okay ... that was ... errr ... fun.

i just got from girls' appreciation night at h2o. for those of you who don't know, we had an italian theme to the night. we were supposed to be at an italian art auction where the last painting (that comes alive) is stolen. the whole night people are supposed to figure out who has stolen the painting. i actually dressed up today and looked pretty spiffy. the food was awesome. well, maybe just in comparison to what i've been eating this past week ... =oP. anyhoo ... yeah, it was pretty fun. i was the flight attendant and an eye-witness to the crime. :-D that was fun. yup, yup, yup. the weirdest part was when we had to sing some corny song at the end. "thank the girls" to the tune of the Little Mermaid's "Kiss the Girl" ... all in all it was a pretty cool V-Day, though.

there you see her

In honor of Valentine's day, I thought I'd just ramble on a little about my view on love.

Valentine's Day
Why do we love others? Is it because they're pretty, smart, or have a nice personality? Maybe that person is just a childhood friend. As Stephen says, we love people usually because we find something attractive about them. Yet, is this really enough? Perhaps we should rethink our definition of why we love people. Think about it. Does God love us because he finds something attractive in us? Perhaps, but not in the conventional sense. God doesn't love us because we're pretty or smart or funny. God loves us because He sees in us someone He can do great things for and with. He sees in us a person created in His own image and, whether we choose to or not, someone who has the ability to love Him with all of his/her heart, soul, mind, & might. That's what God finds attractive about us. If God loves us for this reason, shouldn't we love others for the same? In which case, we shouldn't have a distinction between those we love and those we hate. We should love all because everyone has been created in the image of God and have the ability to be used by Him.

My roommie, Stephen, also brought up an interesting point regarding personality and circumstances, and how that affects how we love each other. Perhaps I shall gather my thoughts and share on that topic later.

You give and take away
You give and take away
My heart will choose to say
Lord, blessed be Your name

There's a whole role of toilet paper sitting inside our toilet bowl. Those pigs. It's been there for over a day, and no one's removing it. The paper is slowly disintegrating. :-/ no good, no good.

from my devotional:

"Leo Tolstoy, the great Russian writer, tells of the time he was walking down the street and passed a beggar. Tolstoy reached into his pocket to give the beggar some money, but his pocket was empty. Tolstoy turned to the man and said, 'I'm sorry, my brother, but I have nothing to give.'

The beggar brightened and said, 'You have given me more that I asked for - you have called me brother.'

To the loved, a word of affection is a morsel, but to the love-starved, a word of affection can be a feast."

I think that this is something that I, personally, really need to work on. A lot of times I don't give words of encouragement and love because I don't deem it neccessary. Yet, it's often the case that people really do need encouragement. Just because we, under certain circumstances, wouldn't need the compliments or praise, it doesn't mean that others, under the same circumstances, wouldn't need them, too.

it's crying time again

So I went to the RSF with Michael today. We played some basketball. I had forgotten how much I terribly sucked at it. I basically was just throwing shots up hoping that sooner or later I'd get one in. It was pretty funny, actually. We both were pretty bad. We are both terribly out of shape, too. We were pretty tired after about ten minutes of twenty-one. (*sigh*). i should use my RSF membership more often ... have to get my twenty-five dollars worth, eh?

this tea makes me feel more reincarnated.

Like the sun that rises everyday, You are so faithful. Oh, Lord, You are faithful.

It's funny. I ran today and like always I rest at a bench near Morrison. There were dozens and dozens of people scurrying off to class, and yet I was able to find rest and peace in the midst of so much chaos. I even was able to spend some time with God there on the bench. I'm really thankful ..

Ooooh ... I almost had a heartattack coming back from dinner with Michael and Stephen. We walked by this homeless guy. He was like walking in circles and talking to himself by this tree. Then he came out of the trees and started following us. Michael and I started walking faster. We kept walking then I asked Michael to see where the guy was. He was like, "Oh crap, he's running after us!" I almost had a heartattack! Michael was lying ... I hate him. Anyhoo ... it was fun going to eat with my roommies ... I love them ... :-D

Everyone's been asking me how my birthday was. Hmmm ... I guess it was okay. I'm usually used to seeing friends on my birthday, but this year I didn't get to see anyone. Anyhoo ... I was really happy to hear from Amily and Vir on my birthday. I just wish I could have spent some time with friends.

I mean, I guess it's kinda important to me that I spend time with friends at least sometime around my birthday. It's not that I need the recognition or anything that it's my birthday; I just like being around friends I love at my birthday. I like being thankful for people God has placed in my life. That's why I'm glad I'm gonna go eat with my roomies. So excited! :-D

Thanks all for being such good friends. I really apprecitate it. God truly has blessed me this past year. He's really looked out for me and given me great friends.

I must succeed!

You'd think I'd have TONS of free time, seeing as though I'm only taking 3 classes and 12 units ... (*sigh*) ... school is hard, but God is good, eh?
